Residential Alterations

Historic House Renovation

This structure had fallen into disrepair. French doors, windows, and interior details brought the house back to life. A new combined five car garage, guest apartment, and pool cabana reflects the style of the primary residence. A ground-source heat pump system heats and cools the buildings cleanly and economically.

Center Stage Renovation

The Client wanted to open this kitchen visually to the dining and living areas while adding a central work island and improving the functionality and flow. New matching cabinetry was added to the family room to further integrate the kitchen and adjacent spaces. These cabinets provide a wet bar, audio video storage, display shelves and a computer station. Throughout, cabinetry elements create aesthetic ‘set- pieces’ with symmetry, textured glass, stainless steel, and color.

Custom for a Crowd Renovation

The existing TV viewing area and little used sunroom were ‘swapped’ with the cramped existing corner kitchen to create an expansive cooking/ dining space. Cantilevered shelving (inspired by the work of Frank Lloyd Wright) lightens the mass at the end of island. To avoid an abrupt transition between the kitchen and adjacent area; the oak flooring wraps a ‘carpet’ of porcelain tile.

Georgian Revival Transformation

In addition to the new entrance, expanded garage, master bedroom suite and octagonal smoking room; fluted pilasters, columns, dormers, and classical trim remake the perception of this once modest façade.

Kitchen and Family Room Makeover

In addition to an expanded entrance, breakfast nook and dining room, the new kitchen opens to the sitting area. At the family room new cabinets were added and existing hand-hewn ceiling beams were reused in a fashion that raises the perception of height in the room.

Updated Transitional Residence

Former clients asked for a screen porch addition at their new residence. They also asked for cabinetry for their new family room and office similar to our designs at their previous home. There was one existing ‘structural’ beam in the family room and we added the others to symmetrically balance the ceiling.
